I a going to do a valve adjustment on my stroked 350, it has a larger cam in it, not sure of the duration, but I cant help but think that there is a different process to adjusting the valves with a larger cam then the stock cam process. I followed the GM book to the letter as far as removing valve lash in the order specified then turning the rocker arm nut 1 full turn. When I put it all together I had 0 compression in all cylinders except 6. After removing the valve covers, I noticed that the valve adjustment was too tight and luckily did not bend any rods, or destroy any valves!

For hydraulic, you are right - tighten to 0 clearance as indicated by lifting the rocker up and down at the valve, until movement stops, then go another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. 1/2 turn is recommmnded for low perf and stock rebuilds. Make sure the lock nuts still grip tight, as it should take maybe 5-10 ft lb to make them turn.
