Sanford Masonic Lodge No. 469 was organized in 1894 and chartered in 1895, first meeting in the Scott Building on South Moore Street. In 1924, plans were made for a 3-story temple on the corner of Carthage and Steele Streets. L.M. Thompson was the architect, and Joe W. Stout the builder of the grand new building.
