61 posts · Joined 2017. #1 · Feb 13, 2018 (Edited) After work I started my car and the check engine light was one and the “D” on the cluster gear selector was flashing. I turned the car off and restarted it and it was still on and flashing. Drove all the way home and it kept flashing.

D lights usually mean an electrical problem. If you get the car scanned, it should have a history dtc stored. Get the car scanned and get the DTC. My 2016 Honda Accord had this blinking D3/03 too. This came up along with check engine light, power steering, traction control, and tire pressure lights. Car went into limp mode and lost power. Pepboys replaced my throttle body and gas pedal. Power came back and car is driving like normal. so far the only problem I have is the blinking D3/03.

Driving into work this morning I got a flashing D drive on the instrument cluster, stopped and checked the owners manual and it says it could indicate a possible transmission problem. I checked the fluid and it looked okay and didn't smell burnt.I got the flashing D while on a road trip in North Dakota. I stopped by a local AutoZone and they were able to pull the code (P1740) for me and it was for a failed 4th gear switch. Not sure why your OBD reader is not picking it up. That cleared the flashing "D". And has not come back. Did a little research and it seems that it could also have been one of the three solenoids on the transmission. Great advice here. Drain and fill with Honda tranny fluid. Cheapest thing. If that doesn't clear it then check the tranny for the solenoids. Good luck.

When I stopped to buy lunch it wasn't flashing when I came out and then went into work. When I got off work the same thing happened about 25 mins into my drive. The reason the codes disappeared is because the battery was disconnected. With the blinking "D" light a pressure, shift, or temperature sensor can be the cause or a simply low on fluid.
