Update: I decided to open another account with Stage 5 my tradovate membership expired and the commissions really dont make sense for me to not explore other options I will still use my topstep account on the tradovate trader. There's a day margin in Futures and a Maintenance margin. You need the maintenance margin if you're holding the contract when the futures markets are closed. That's how it is on Tradovate, other brokers might vary on the hours. You would need $1060 to hold the contract open during those hours the futures market is closed.

Tradovate will lag during busy crazy events, so buyer beware. If you avoid those you should be fine. If you want to go deep down the rabbit hole, you can do anything on Sierra Chart and it is way cheaper than Ninja Trader. I hardly ever call a broker, but when I do, I need to be put straight through – I can’t wait for all the command prompts, and certainly can’t be put on hold. There’s huge opportunity for any broker that figures out customer service. Brokers are inherently “sticky” when it comes to keeping customers, but good brokers are super-sticky.Free platform. TDA is a good all around broker, but it's not a futures broker. If you trade exclusively futures NinjaTrader and Tradovate are the two most popular brokers. It's not just the commission difference, but the tools they offer.

If you connect the 2 then the data feed that you pay for on tradovate can be used on tradingview. Also if you so desire you could use tradingview to actually place trades through tradovate. Tradingview has this option available for a couple of different brokers. To do it go to tradovate settings, "add ons" and look for the tradingview option.
