My Citizen AJ-0100's lume is easily equal to that of my Seiko Black Knight, in longevity. In initial brightness, I believe the edge goes to the Seiko. But after 7 hours of sleep (or thereabouts), the Citizen appears to me to retain more luminosity. Easily readable in the early morning hours.

If you have good lume on your watch, you usually do NOT have to intentionally "charge" the lume. In darkness you just look at your watch, and it's there, because the watch saw light sometime during the past 6 hours and was already "charged". I have a clock in my bedroom, so I don't have to look at my watch to see time.
