I finished the 100 Level Challenges, No Rebirth Challenges, the 2nd 24h Challenge, and 3 of the Blind Challenges. I get progression will be painfully slow but I haven't actually needed to use the rebirth mechanic yet.

You should be fine to ignore them for a while and just push forward gradually. Final run of the Troll Challenge took me about 23-24 minutes at that point in the game. (Other runs before that went even quicker.)
