I've had this same problem. When I first installed the system (base, two keypads, three entry sensors, many motion sensors, water sensor), the entry chimes sounded on the base station, but ever since I installed the rest of the devices including many smoke sensors as well as two additional sirens, the entry chimes stopped sounding, and I have not been able to get the entry chimes to work since.
A: The Entry Sensor works by having the main sensor piece detect a magnet. So it works for any door or window that opens all the way. However, it will only trigger when that door or window is actually opened. There's be no way for the standard sensor magnet in its plastic enclosure to fit there, so I removed the magnet and attached that to the inside of the frames directly. The magnet is much slimmer and doesn't obstruct the door opening that way. Yes, it will work. the 2 units do not need to face each other.

Suggest 1. First, try changing the battery. If no go, then 2. try swapping the entry sensor with another one (don't forget to change and update your settings) and see if that fixes the location. If so, replace the faulty sensor. 3.It means that the base sent a ping to that sensor, and did not get a response. You could put the system in test mode. The "ultimate" debugging scenario is to swap the failing sensor with another which is not failing. If the problem follows the sensor, then the sensor may be bad.
I tried deleting the sensor from the system and reinstalling it but it would not reinstall. I removed the OEM battery to check it's voltage. It measured at only 2.8 volts. I replaced the battery with a new Duracell 2032. My base station could now detect the entry sensor's signal and reinstalled it on the system.

On the dates that I replaced the batteries in the entry sensors, the only postings in the timeline are 'device not responding'.
