The recent silver E609 doesn't sound like the all black earlier E609. The never ones have a brighter top and seem to have a bit of mid scoop. I use the E609 (black) on 4x12 cabs a lot. in general there is a 421 a 57 and the black E609. all close mic'd. The E609 wins on chuging stuff most of the time.

The e609 Silver capsule is a totally new design which I think looks pretty similar to a cheap chinese design (and sound like so too). I have no idea where the e609 Black comes into the picture.
