I am learning repair as I go and worked with my Dad to try to diagnose this issue. We disassembled the lower unit and didn't find anything glaringly wrong with the water pump or impeller but it still won't autoprime.Re: 15 hp Gamefisher serial # and model #. If it's a 1989, then it's one of these two numbers: Short shaft: 225.581501. Long shaft: 225.581491. Made by Force/Chrysler. The thing pulled a 14' fiberglass skiff with two onboard at a good clip, (I'd guess about 18 mph or so with two big guys onboard). For $175 it ran well enough to convince me to buy it. The impeller fins are straight when new, but they take a "set" from being bent over in the waterpump housing over time, normal, but not good. The impeller should be replaced every 2 years, or if you don't know it's age.
