I pulled both the solenoid relays off and found the back one not connecting across the poles when excited. Today I started the truck and the heater came on before start and then threw a check engine light. Took it to the dealer and they checked it out, and was the same code as before when the grid heater was replaced.

Different JD models engage the heater in different ways. The manual for yours says to push in the key. If is does not than it most likely is the Glow Plug / Intake Air Heater Relay, as it should not be needed above 50deg. Some you turn to the left and hold it. Some switches are to the right and go off, on, heater, then way to the right to start. You will need to use a VOM and do a bit of testing to figure out what yours is. While trying to figure it out.. remember to push the key IN..The code is from the relay unplugged. The ECM is not seeing the relay. Try disconnecting the main power cable for the relay instead. The relay will still work. Just no longer supply power to the grid heater.
