Jun 21, 2018 · The PTO will not stay engaged without the engine running, it's a built-in safety feature. If I read you correctly, it does stay in after you start the tractor? That's the way it's supposed to work. If it won't stay in at all, there's a lever in the clutch valve that breaks or bends, so the lock piston can't hold it in. If its NOT turning the belted shaft, you may need a new pto clutch pack because the material is worn away. You still want to feed 12v to the PTO clutch in case there is a voltage problem and see if you can manually engage the clutch. You need Mom for this, too.
