I have redone some MEC's by just cleaning them in a flat oil drain pan and a small paint brush and some paint thinner to degrease. I replaced the plastic spindex that was on my 20ga grabber with an old one off an old 600 jr. I think the work much better. When loading new I fired hulls on my 600 set up for 3” hulls, the old style works far better at sitting the initial crimp.
I owned a MEC 600 Jr 12 Ga. for many years without any issues. The MEC 600 Jr. is probably the best shot shell reloader on the market for the price. It is easily refillable, easily reconfigurable, very durable and has a small footprint. A top of my head answer would be something like this. The Mark V incorporates features Mec used to have on different models. The pro-check that was an option on the older jr and standard on the 700. If you don't have a manual you can download one from the MEC website. You probably need to adjust the primer seating tube down. There is a small clamp with a hex head screw around the tube above the primer seating station. Loosen the screw and pull the tube down slightly, then re-tighten the hex head screw. My older MEC 600's could be adjusted to load 2 3/4" or 3" with a few extra parts. I see that the MEC 600 JR 410 presses are offered in 2 1/2" or 3". ... I use a folded washcloth...drop 10 primer on the cloth. The cloth acts as a cushion making it easy to grab a primer. Complete a shell, grab a primer, drop it in, grab a hull and take off. The Mec 600 is a very simple machine, I'd keep it that way.Agree that those do not look like mec dies, could have been to make it load 3 1/2 . However you have to adjust the crimping after each change and that can take some time or not. I started out converting a Sizemaster between 12 and 20. Then I found a good deal on a used Grabber and just left the Sizemaster at 20 gauge.
