Looking for advice on used Rav4. Hello! I’m looking to buy a used Rav4 but don’t really know too much about what to look out for, more reliable years, what to look for in a PPI, etc. My budget is probably up to $17K. Any advice at all is greatly appreciated. I’ve had Toyotas for a long time so I assume this is another great purchase. The RAV4 interior is a lot more "basic" than the CR-V. It's well done and it looks decent, but it's far from the luxury look of the CR-V. It has more space inside, at least visually speaking, I didn't measure anything. I guess every RAV4 from 2021 have something like this which is a paint, probably double paint. Yeah, you’ll see that same crease around the edge of of plastic parts from the molds. Having also worked in rotational plastic molding, I never thought much of it until customers also asked. It’s the same on all 2019+ RAVs.

The Rav4 is a decent car but it's overpriced by about $5k. It has one thing going for it: it's a Toyota, which means it'll probably last a while. If that's the most important thing to you, buy the Rav4. But other than that, it's a worse value than almost every one of its competitors (particularly the CX-5, CR-V, Tucson, and Rogue). Also, storage capacity looks limited by that sloping roof. Hope the styling reverts back to the previous, less boxy generation. The Camry will debut this summer (2023) after the new Tacoma not in 2024. Camry will be a 2024 MY. Toyota never changes much so don't expect much.

The CX50 and RAV4 adventure/trd seem to be similar in what they can do. The RAV imo has the better awd system but I haven’t had a chance to see and feel the Mazda. The RAV seems to struggle with power so the CX50’s turbo drivetrain is very compelling. The Mazda CX-50 is the quintessential egg shaped boring crossover. Night and day difference. Hybrid is the way to go. Over all Smoother, quiter driving experience. Disliked the 8 speed tranny. I immediately missed the quick responsiveness of the e-cvt and the electric motors. I got 22 mpg on the adventure. I easily get 35-42mpg on my hybrid without trying.
