They call my son at work and tell him what I said. Apparently they thought that he owned the house. He calls me and asks why I'm selling his house, I tell him I paid for it along with the taxes on it and it is mine. He was living there rent free, but since he doesn't want us in his new life, he has to get out.

AITA here? EDIT: ok seems people think it was wrong, but my son only got the truck after schooling and my daughter has not finished school yet. I have not thought of her graduation gift yet. After he passed away, I kept his favorite car. My brother in law would come by and maintain it for us and sometimes take it to shows. My son would often go with his uncle to shows and when my son got his license he was allowed to occasionally drive the car when either I, his step dad (I remarried in 2017) or his uncle was able to go with him.
