How to jump a 2013 ford escape.

After I did, the liftgate shut fine, but not it won't open at all. I've tried the button on the inside, the key fob, and the button on the liftgate. Nothing seems to work.The battery connection is tight. Im not totally sure what's on the front of battery holder ( case) but i can see that the positive cable is connected at the top of a plate. What else is in there, to cause the car not to start now. Jumping twice in 2 days is a bad battery, not being able to jump it may indicate a blown fuse (these are on the front of the battery compartment) or a bad battery cable. Mel520.
