Every once in a while they have a big bin with all the "old polish" for way less. I got a full sized Orly there for a little over $4 once. But the really good part is when you have coupons :) their coupons are great because they never expire and can be used on everything, and you can use 1 coupon per item.
Centred around a question I'm hoping for some help with, but feel free to take it as a discussion prompt too - what do you personally use for pre-polish (i.e. before the base coat) nail care, and what would you consider the necessities if your own routine goes beyond that? The cheap polishes on Amazon are cheap for a reason. On the other hand, you can order gel polishes from Sally, but you are paying the $10-20 EACH bottle price for the name brands like Gelish or OPI. Not to knock the sets you get on Amazon, half my gel polish collection are multi-packs of Fairy Glo, Coscelia, Clavus, and Elite 99, and i have had ... Hi Laqueristas! I purchased a small pot of the new chrome powder. But I only use regular nail polish, not gels. I see all (or all that I've seen) videos show this powder being used exclusively on gel nails. I've tried it on my regular polish and while I can get it to kinda shine, when I topcoat it, it does some odd things.Use jojoba oil to treat the dry cuticles. Since you're growing them out I'd also recommend to wear a strengthener (not hardener, which is harsher and can make your nails peel) when you're not wearing nail polish. It protects the nail and help them grow without peeling/chipping/breaking etc.
Acetone is much better and much faster at removing polish than nail polish remover. It also doesn't contain water: the worst chemical for our nails. I use a cheap oil around my fingers before applying acetone soaked cotton and my manicure clips to help mitigate the drying effect. Didn't know what the proper way was. I just file. I only clip my nails then file when they are really long and I need to shorten them significantly. I only file.
