It would be great to have an open source project similar to YNAB. I invested couple of hours trying to understand the architecture of Actual and it is kind of tricky. It is not the topical web ui connected to an api backend, there is a service but it seems only supports few endpoints to sync data across devices.So when you first connect to or add a manual cash account (checking, savings, cash on hand, etc. ), the plan page will list the initial balance of those accounts as “Income”.
