I assume the hammer and trigger on yours are case-hardened and the ejector is blued. If so, you have a nickel revolver from the factory. There should be a “N” on the cyl. face.

The -7 and -8 have always confused me. I have seen no definitive descrpiption of either one other than -7 was two piece barrel and -8 was slab side barrel. Both don't hold true when looking at examples online that appear to be same as a -6. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the 629 will chime in.
