I immediately brought my car to batteries plus, thinking I had a bad battery in my keyless. They replaced the battery and resoldered a bad connection. AND tested it to make sure all components were working. Which they were. The unlock button is sending a signal to my car, but it is not being acknowledged by my car.

For the Malibu they replace the KR95B rear compartment lid unlatch relay with a "two shot relay" GM P/N 19119267 which means you will have to push remote twice or trunk lid button twice within 3 seconds to open it. When they change out the relay for a 2 shot relay, the problem is fixed. The relay is bad, nothing is done with the remote.
