We don't go to Secrets Cap Cana till next year so I can't really help with comparisons but we have stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres & I have to say although we had an enjoyable holiday we weren't exactly blown away. In my opinion to justify paying for Preferred there should be a seperate Preferred pool which there isn't at SMP.On our first Mexico visit earlier in 2019 stayed at Live Aqua for 3 nights. Not normally beach people but it was only place we could find free sun loungers at LA. Beach was lovely. Trying to decide between Live Aqua, Secrets Playa Mujeres and Atelier Playa Mujeres (new hotel) for next year. Excellence is much better. Service way better. True beach front, steps from pool decking, clear of any brush or thickets, very pretty. Public bathroom areas bigger & much cleaner. Every area of the resort is within a short walking distance. Food is better for breakfast & lunch. Dinner is about equal.
