After a little tinkering turned out to by a cracked taillight had finally taken in enough sand mud and water to short and trip up the ecm into thinking I was riding the brake.

Here's some additional info I found. 520284 / 31 is a Throttle Body Control/ Position Deviation Fault. Most of the ETC faults are a result from the input of the PPS ( Gas Pedal). If you have been riding in water over the pedal, you may want to take it apart and clean it.The code only ever seems to trip when you have been working it hard in the upper throttle range. While out riding we found some snow and I was pushing it pretty hard to get through when it tripped this code. It did it twice, and only while working it fairly hard for about 1 min. Normal riding it doesn't seem to show up.
