These are surgery shelf anki cards based on Emma Holliday’s powerpoint review + some of OME + some of Pestana. Some cards are also drawn from the Zanki step 2 deck. The Emma deck is pretty comprehensive. The surgery shelf is a lot more medicine than actual surgical procedure. You need to know how to diagnose certain surgical conditions (eg pancreatitis= CT) and you need to know patient management in trauma ( abc's, signs of pneumothorax etc) You do NOT need to know surgical techniques for the shelf.

I am currently on the surgery rotation and have a shelf exam in 6 days. NBME 3 was taken 12 days before the shelf (last week) and scored a 86%. NBME 4 was taken today with 6 days remaining before the shelf and scored a 71%. NBME 4 looked like a very different exam compared to 3. I am trying to figure out what the best plan of attack is.
